ABOUT APPLE BUNNIES
My name is Zim, also known as zeviolett, and I created the characters of Apple Bunnies in 2021, when I was in my sophomore year of high school. I make illustrations and comics, APBN being my first to actually be published. I enjoy making characters and writing stories surrounding them; I have a lot more outside the ones in APBN. Now, I'm in college majoring in Art, and I hope to gain support on my artistic journey. If you have any questions about anything, or just want to discuss something about APBN, you can find me active on Instagram & Twitter. Or just join my discord above! I love talking about Apple Bunnies. I'll be posting about it too. I make videos on YouTube and stream on Twitch occassionally.

Mac & Love

#pride
Mac is arguably the most highlighted character in Apple Bunnies. His character is the most complex as well, and I've developed him enough to the point that...it might be a little unhealthy. I mean, I automatically know exactly how Mac would react in any given situation, including body language, tone of voice, everything. I can do that with Clyde too, but not as much because he's more extraverted than I am. And no, Mac is not a self-insert. We are extremely different, however, the main similar thing is that we experience emotions the same: at a deeper (sensitive and unpredictable) level.Anyway, that's not what this blog post is about. This is about Mac's romantic and sexual orientation.Simply put, Mac is demiromantic and ace-spec.
Asexuality:I think that Mac's asexuality fluctuates, hence why I didn't say he's fully asexual but instead that he's under the ace spectrum umbrella. He simply doesn't feel sexual arousal without it being initiated, and even then, it might not happen. It depends on how he feels, and it's usually semi-rare. Sex is not important to him at all, and it usually overwhelms him. Sometimes, he's repulsed by it. Even if he's in a relationship.Demiromanticism:Mac is very demiromantic. He absolutely does not find random people attractive. He sees a hot person on the street, and he doesn't think "Holy crap they're so hot" like Clyde would. He thinks....well, he doesn't think anything. Mac obviously has a preference in physical traits, but anyone being attractive doesn't even come into the picture until he's known them for a long, long time...and they have a strong bond. A lot of people tease him for not having a girlfriend, and not wanting one, but he doesn't care. (He does love historical romance dramas and the concept of being in a loving relationship...)And even though romance isn't that important to him, when he is in a romantic relationship, it becomes very, very, VERY important and romantic advances from that specific person affects him a LOT.This also doesn't mean that Mac doesn't want a significant other. He does. But not any time soon, because he thinks that it would be too stressful and mentally harrowing. He wants to wait until he's happier.Author's Note: I'm not demi or ace, I'm just bi, so let me know if I should make some terminology changes.
Clyde & Musicals

Musical theater is a big part of Clyde's life. His music taste ranges from grunge rock to Parry Gripp to Sir Mix-A-Lot, and of course, to Rent and Falsettos. In early versions, Clyde was simply a music major, but I turned him into a singer-slash-actor with the voice of my favorite musical actor of all time, Jonathan Groff. Yes, Clyde shares a voice with Jonathan Groff, and it's important to me. For the best example of Clyde's voice, listen to this! (Here) ...And this! (Here) Groff's voice acting in Frozen as Kristoff is the most accurate voice for Clyde. Period.Clyde's passions began when he watched RENT's performance at the 1996 Tony Awards (Here), as a five-year-old. He really isn't passionate about anything, career-wise, other than music. He took piano lessons throughout elementary and middle school and taught himself acoustic guitar. Starting in middle school, he auditioned for every single school play and got in because of his voice and theatrics, and because he looked the happiest. In high school, he joined theater and did well there too, getting most of the lead roles and causing a lot of jealousy in the group (but he was the best singer, tbh). Naturally, he decided to major in musical theater at the University of Sacramento. This is my favorite song to imagine Clyde singing. (This.) And (this), to be honest. Spring Awakening is just my favorite musical ever, okay? (AND THIS ONE.)To this day, Clyde's favorite musical is RENT. He also loves Company, Falsettoland, tick, tick...BOOM!, anything with Idina Menzel, and most musicals, lol.
California Love
Feb 2 | #MacRoni #ClydeMillerMendoza #FaeDavis #characterlore

As briefly shown in the first chapter, Mac, Clyde, & Fae all live in Sacramento, California. They attend The University of Sacramento, or USAC, or YOU SUCK!!! Like everyone else from California, they love representing the West Coast, and when it comes to Basketball, the Bay Area.At USAC, Clyde engages in the school's theater program, often snatching up lead roles. Mac is a striker on his soccer team, the Sacramento Sharks! Fae is the leader of the school's Romance Club, centered around everything romantic fiction.Mac and Clyde have lived in Sac since 2003, while Fae has lived there her whole life.I wish I could have an Apple Bunnies beach chapter, but...they're in snowy Wisconsin now.Author's Note: I am originally from Stockton, California! I frequented San Francisco and LA, and I'm sure I've been to Sacramento a handful of times. Honestly, I don't remember. I've been in Las Vegas for almost half my life now.
Apple Bunnies Origins

It's impossible to narrow down exactly what inspired me to created Apple Bunnies and make it what it is today. Mac, of course, was the first character in the series that I created, then Clyde. It didn't start off as a werewolf idea.Mac is completely inspired by Maxxie Oliver from Skins UK. I loved him so much, so I made a character that was very similar, in appearance and voice at least. FYI, if you want to hear what Mac sounds like, (click here!) Additionally, Clyde was roughly inspired by Tony Stonem from the same show, hence the black hair and blue eyes. Basically, if I didn't watch this show, this comic book wouldn't exist. I recommend watching Skins UK; it's amazing. By the way, their dynamic in the show is nothing like Mac and Clyde's so...don't think that it's foreshadowing or anything. (P.S. Maxxie's actor, Mitch Hewer, knows about Apple Bunnies!)

Back in the early stages of APBN, Mac and Clyde's personalities were kinda switched. Mac was a pretentious, cocky partygoer who was kinda mean. Clyde was a mysterious yet cool guy who played piano. Now, Mac is a super sensitive and anxious academic, and Clyde is a charismatic kind (and naive) singer. They also were not werewolves. Apple Bunnies was going to be a college drama series--who knows what the plot would have been. But I changed it pretty quick and randomly decided to make them into werewolves because I thought it'd be cool, which it is. For some reason, originally, they lived in a world where everyone wore hair clips? Here is a very, very early drawing of Mac and Clyde. Mac looks pretty much the same, but Clyde...

Clearly, Mac was also a tsundere or something, which he is NOT anymore. Clyde is just...I don't even wanna talk about it.Mac has a very simple design, and he's looked the same for most of his existence: a cute skinny kitten-like white guy with spiky blonde hair and a few moles. Clyde came afterward, and he was very hard to design. Every time I drew him, he looked completely different. But after that initial horrifying design, this was born.

Most of the design changes came from an improvement in art style though. But this is basically current Clyde. That drawing is from 2021.Now, we've come upon their final normal designs, because of course, their designs may change as APBN goes on. It's been a long journey and Apple Bunnies has followed me through high school and college. Whenever I am given creative liberty, I will draw something Apple Bunnies related.
